the good old world:

all photos taken in Mississippi, 2005, and printed on hand applied liquid silver emulsion.

the white sutra:

sutra: an aphorism (or line, rule, formula) or a collection of these in the form of a manual or text in Hinduism or Buddhism. . . a thread or line that holds things together and is derived from the verbal root siv-, meaning to sew.

white: the color produced by the reflection, transmission or emission of all wavelengths of visible light.

these are 8×8 polymer photogravures, editions of 12.

gnossiennes:

This is one of Erik Satie’s brilliantly made-up titles for his equally original piano compositions. The word gnosis is a good place to start if you are interested in its possible meanings.

These images are 10×10 wet collodion tintypes, editions of 5

botanica:

I nearly always feel that my work is ahead of my ability to understand it. After over ten years of working on this project, I have come to realize that it is an inner landscape I am capturing, not the outer.

Originally printed as silver gelatin, I am now reprinting these images as 8×8 polymer photogravures, chine-collé on mulberry paper, editions of 12.

dogscapes:

One of my great loves is photographing dogs. The bigger the camera, the harder it is!  These images are available as polymer photogravure prints as well.

animal, whimsical, liminal:

There is so much joy to be had, so many populations beyond humankind to be witnessed, so many weird little stories. This is a wild ride through years and years of disordered fun — kind of like pulling a box of family photos out from under the bed. Contact me for print information.
